Our Story

We are the Pikes.  
I am Tara, my husband, Derek, and I decided to sell everything that we owned and hit the open road with our 2 children.  We are traveling the country in our 36' Travel Trailer, with the mission to see the things that this Great Country has to offer.  Now many people think that we are absolutely crazy for doing this, and we maybe, but we are going to give it a try.  

Here is the thing...
Do we have a master plan? NO! 

Do we think that we will ever have one? NO!  
Do we really want one? NO!  

We just knew that there is much more to life then what we were doing.  We were both doing well with our careers, but only being able to spend a few hours a night with the kids.  Most of that time was rushed with making dinner, taking baths, and then bedtime.  We had a house that we didn’t use half of and we didn’t use 75% of the stuff in it.  We were working to buy more stuff because that is what your “spos” to do.  That’s the “dream” right?? We want our kids to grow up knowing there is more to life then that.  



On the other side of it, like many, have said that we want to travel when we retire.  Who knows if we will be in good enough health by the time we are able to retire.  If retirement is even an option by then.  Let’s be honest, Derek and I are no where near healthy people!!  We love to eat and love to not exercise more!  We know way too many young people that have been diagnosed, at an early age, with a terminal illness, and know of too many people that we have lost too soon.  

So why not take a chance and make the leap and enjoy our selves while we are able and when the kids are young and up for anything?!? 



So... We sold everything we owned beside a few sentimental items and a few things that we we knew we could not replace.  Other then that, our lives are in our 36’ Travel Trailer and we love it so far!!Yes I know there will be times when this small space will get the best of us all but I hope that the good times will out weigh the bad.  Believe me we had our issues in 3500 sq ft also!  Lol 



By no means to we want to push this life style on anyone or even guarantee we are going to love it in a year, but we want to help show everyone that you can make your own “normal”!! That you don’t have to stick to the plan, if you want something bad enough don’t let anyone or anything stand in your way!

This Winter

Hello All Its been a bit since I have posted anything on here.  It's because we haven't been doing too many exciting things!  Our main focus has been hiding from the cold weather.  We have been pretty successful so far (fingers crossed it continues).  We have until the middle of March here in Texas before we head back home for a few weeks (spending time between KS and MO).  We are hoping all the crazy winter weather is gone by then. So what have we been up to and where have we been??  We have been in Southern Texas.  We have been about an hour to an hour and a half from San Antonio and Corpus Christi, in a small oil town.  Derek has been working for a oil pipeline company as a Gate Guard, which means he was working 10-12 hours a day.  So the kids and I got to hang out around the camper and the camp ground all day.  We got very lucky to find a great camp ground where we have met some really good people!  The camp ground Owners are...

Conroe TX

November 2018 Conroe Tx was our first stop, that we spent an extended amount of time at, that was not out in the middle of nowhere!  We were about an hour from Downtown Houston.  We ventured into Houston a couple of times to enjoy some of the more common attractions, but spent most of 2 weeks at the campgound hanging out and meeting some new friends!

November 2018 Here is the first time we have had any winter weather.  It was below freezing a couple of nights and rained most of the time we were there.  So we were able to enjoy some family game night fun!
